Robin Dicey - Viticulturist
Robin Dicey has been a huge part of the outstanding wines produced at Anthem.
His understanding of the vineyard and the varying requirements of each area of it has enabled the wine maker to produce wines with individuality and complexity.
Robin Dicey immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa in 1977.
Armed with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from Stellenbosch University, Dicey was retained to establish large vineyards at
Tolaga Bay in Gisborne for Corbans. Inspired by a visit to Rippon Vineyard at Wanaka in 1988, the Diceys purchased land in
Bannockburn in 1990 to plant their own grapes. Over the years, Dicey has consulted and planted for several other vineyard
owners in the area.

Described as a "craggy, eloquent South African flanker...", since arriving in Central Otago more than 10 years ago he's
had a major influence in the development of the wine region here.
Robin was born in South Africa, trained at Stellenbosch University near Capetown, and moved to New Zealand in 1977
to establish vineyards on the east coast of the North Island for Corbans. Robin has been consultant in establishing and managing
about 400ha of vines in the region. "Pinot Noir is a difficult variety to grow and this
is one of its natural homes in the world."
