Anthem’s extensive tourism experience includes supporting the launch and welcoming of a number of new airlines to New Zealand for clients Auckland Airport, American Airlines and Thai Airways.
Anthem was engaged to help launch the Thai Airways’ Dreamliner daily service from Bangkok to New Zealand with a focus on business travellers who travel regularly. We Invited key travel and business media as well as influencers to Auckland Airport to celebrate the first Dreamliner landing in New Zealand.
Coverage was secured across both national travel and business media and trade publications. Influencers who attended the airport launch event also created exciting content across their social channels. Following on from the Dreamliner launch, Anthem supported the Thai Airways 30th Anniversary celebration with a media relations campaign, securing coverage across national travel media and trade publications, including an article by eminent travel writer Grant Bradley in the NZ Herald.
Auckland Airport has been undergoing growth at a rapid pace. In one year, the Aeronautical Commercial team facilitated inaugural flight celebrations for three airlines which coincided with Auckland Airport’s peak season passenger movements,
Having completed airline projects of a similar nature previously, we were engaged to project manage flight arrival and departure ceremonies for Air China, Philippine Airlines and Jetsar across a three-week period.
Official welcomes for arriving delegations were typified by water arch cannons on the tarmac, rousing kapa haka performances and Kaumatua blessings, ribbon cutting, photo opportunities plus words from government ministers, ambassadors and chief executives. The projects involved working with a number of internal airport stakeholders and joint border agencies to ensure a seamless and welcoming experience for VIP delegations. Dignitary, media and influencer management was coordinated alongside comprehensive airline and staff briefings, including walk throughs of terminal celebrations for individual groups.
With our experience of airline inaugurals, American Airlines asked Anthem to devise a departure event to celebrate its inaugural Auckland – LA service in March 2016. Having not been seen in our skies since the early 2000s, this was an opportunity for much celebration. The event was catered in Americana and California theming, including banners and an enormous helium balloon arch, all in American Airlines brand colours. Promotional staff in California sports team costumes, American-themed catering and a huge red ribbon spanning the width of the boarding gate area all featured.
