Partnering with the Ministry of Education, IT Professionals NZ (ITP NZ) set out to launch a digital technology challenge in schools, to help prepare students and teachers for the new Digital Technologies & Hangarau Matihiko curriculum, compulsory in 2020.

Tasked with branding and launching the competition, Anthem dreamed up the name Tahi Rua Toru Tech (because tech is as easy as 1, 2, 3!), creating the logo, website and launch video to match. Anthem also lined up Michelle Dickinson, aka Nanogirl, as the Challenge ambassador, the perfect complement.

Anthem worked with ITP NZ to run regional judging events around the country, featuring inspirational presentations from local tech heroes, followed by the national final event in Te Papa, Wellington where Nanogirl reappeared with Ian Taylor CNZM to hand out prizes to the winners.

More than 1,500 school students entered the inaugural competition and over 100 competed at the national finals. More than 20 articles were secured across outlets such as TVNZ Breakfast, New Zealand Herald, CIO and key regional and local publications.
